Guide to becoming a Non Smoker

  1. Decide the date on which you choose to become a Non smoker and stick to it. Tell as many people as you can of your intention.
  2. Write down all the reasons smoking is bad for you, making them as personal as possible. Example – It’s a dirty habit and it leaves my hair smelling and my fingers and teeth stained yellow.
  3. Write down the benefits of becoming a Non smoker. Example – I will be proud of what I have done and I will feel at ease with other Non smokers.
  4. Break the patterns. If for example you smoke in the car, remove the ashtray from the car and clean the interior and put in an air freshener. Maybe place a picture of your children in the car as a reminder.
  5. Stop asking yourself why you can’t become a Non-smoker. Develop a positive reference by asking things like. “How good will I feel when I give up smoking?” “What will I use my new wealth and fitness for?” “What can I buy with the money I save?” Keep these answers in mind and keep answering them until you feel more positive.
